Just a reminder, Rock Garden and Rock Slide are both pure Java applications and will run (should run) flawlessly on the new Intel Macs.

Development Update

We are working on some updates to RockGarden and RockSlide as well as new games. We’ve improved performance on older computers (RockGarden Beta will now run on OS 10.2 333Mhz G3 iMac) and improved fullscreen support. During testing, we noticed that Apple broke ImageIO under OS 10.4.2 and Java 1.4. This causes some of the graphics in our games to look odd. We have put a workaround in the beta but in the meantime, if you find it annoying, consider upgrading to Java 5 (it’s free, but it is a big download). Howdy folks, we’ve released new versions of RockGarden 1.06 and RockSlide 1.01. They include the following…

Autosave
Updated keybindings: Spacebar brings up menu and “N” starts a new game.
Buttons have a new look

Autosave will save your game when you exit and reload it the next time you start the game. This handy feature lets you resume a game after one of life’s longer interruptions. This works for registered users and valid evaluation version. If the startup dialog says you have a negative number days left in evaluation then this feature will be disabled.

The new keybindings and new button skins are due to someone requesting an existing feature — namely to abort the current game.

RockSlide 1.0 Released

RockSlide is an arcade/puzzle game where “rocks” enter from the left in a timed fashion. Rocks must be removed by clicking on similar groups before the pile slides to the right side of the screen.

RockSlide has three levels of difficulty, multiple backgrounds, multiple rock “Themes”, an Internet Highscore board, and can be run windowed or full-screen.

It is like a faster paced version of RockGarden.

Version 1.0 is now available at http://www.walker-games.com/rockslide for Mac OS 10.3 and later and Windows 98SE and later.

Tiger

Just installed Mac OS X Tiger. Happy to report that RockGarden works fine with Tiger.
